Hon. Colonial Secretary,
Attached I forward certain statistics in respect of my work as Custodian and Controller from June 1st 1920 in case they
may be wanted for any purpose.
2.
(a) Shares not realised and the reasons,
(b) Schedule of certain scrip.
(c) Amount of realisations.
(d) Miscellaneous.
(e) Clearing Office.
In general all shares which could be realised have been realised, as well as all movable property. All personal effects have been restored, and all old books of liquidated firms have been handed over with the exception of 2 firms; in the case of C. J. Geopp & Co. I have been unable to trace any former partner; in the case of the Siemens China Electrical Engineering Co. (Hongkong) Ltd., the books, which partly belong to the British
Company, may be required subsequently.
3, The Clearing Office is still working very slowly and
probably there are many more claims from Germany yet to come forward. Most of Hongkong claims against Germany have not yet been settled, while in the case of German claims against Hongkong
a large amount of correspondence will yet be involved before the
olaims are finally settled chiefly owing to the omission of the
requisite supporting documents by the German Clearing Office.
4. I am making up a supplementary statement regarding
realisation of property, rights and interests since June 30th 1921; probably it will be well to send another statement which will include the Shanghai Register shares of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation made up to June 30th 1922, which,
I hope should be the last,
20th December, 1921.
(sd.)
J. D. Lloyd, Custodian of Enemy Property & Controller, Local Clearing Office, Hongkong.
